In order to boost contactless payment protection IDEMIA has signed an agreement with Rocker, a state-of-the-art Swedish terminal technology and challenger bank. In the first quarter of 2021, IDEMIA F.CODE will send biometric payment cards to Rocker for proof of concept.
The F.CODE payment card is a biometric mechanism that allows for quick, hygienic and safe transactions, because the cardholders do not have to insert a PIN or sign any more and thus minimize contact points in public places.
"As a bank challenger, we are constantly testing new technology to develop smarter financial services that are easier to use and that help our customers improve their everyday financial lives" says Jonas Hultin, Chief Product Officer and one of Rocker’s three founders, "We are moving at a high pace to provide new and attractive innovations to customers. Launching biometric F.CODE debit cards is part of our strategy to offer smart and secure payment solutions across platforms, whether you wish to pay with your mobile, a card or with a transfer. In doing so, we are first in Sweden and one of the first in the world to offer this payment technology for consumers.
The demand for contactless payment solutions worldwide has risen since the pandemic. In partnership with IDEMIA, the world leader in increased identification, Challenger bank Rocker, the Swedish top technology and Schibsted as its largest shareholder, has been conducting the first biometric card design proof in northern Europe. The fingerprint in the store reviews card payments.
The IDEMIA approach uses biometric technology and guarantees security by storing all biometric credentials only on the card and not in a remote database. This battery-free card is supplied by the payment terminal and is planned to be simple to used in mid-2021, after proof of concept.
