The BBC reports today a plan by Russian health authorities to begin vaccination of the public against COVID-19.
According to the Russian health minister Mikhail Murashko, the program will first vaccinate doctors and teachers provided their first vaccine receives regulatory approval this month.
Moscow's Gameleya Institute has been producing a COVID-19 vaccine which expects to complete its 100-person Phase 2 trials in two days. The institute aims to begin Phase 3 trials this month, the same month regulators are expected to approve the vaccine. Gameleya estimates production of 30 million doses for use in Russia with 170 million produced abroad.
AstraZeneca also signed a deal with Russia on their AZD1222 vaccine, currently in testing,
